Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center is a comprehensive multidisciplinary team serving child victims of sexual or physical abuse in Snohomish County, Washington. Law enforcement, child protective services, medical, victim advocacy, prosecution, and mental health agencies all work together to provide the best possible services to children and their families victimized by sexual or physical abuse.
Dawson Place provides comfort for children caught up in a chaotic situation by welcoming them into a child friendly setting that promotes healing. Children and families benefit from having a single point of contact with many agencies in one place. Intervention and treatment in child abuse cases is strengthened as a result of having many disciplines working together toward common goals, which include support and services for the child and holding offenders accountable.
There is a significant need for comprehensive services for child abuse victims. One in four girls and one in six boys will be victims of sexual abuse during their childhood. This means that in Snohomish County, there are potentially 35,000 children in need of intervention and treatment. Dawson Place seeks to address this issue by utilizing an efficient and child-centered services and treatment model.
