Dawson Place offers a wide array of child abuse prevention workshops that provides everyone who attends with practical tools and knowledge they can use to keep children safe from abuse. Because EVERY child abuse victim deserves safety, justice, and healing.

Community Child Abuse Prevention Workshops
Length: 2-3 hours
Cost: $10.00 per person

Dawson Place provides a 2-3 hour child abuse prevention workshop that includes a video and a workbook. In this workshop, you will:
- Listen to stories from child abuse survivors
- Learn what you can do to prevent abuse from happening in your places of influence
- Learn how to respond when a child discloses abuse to you
- Meet other members of the community you can partner with
If you are part of a program that works with kids, this workshop is especially timely and relevant for you and your staff to attend. Abuse can happen in any setting where children depend on trusted adults.
Where Can Community Workshops Be Held?
Training events can be held almost anywhere, including at Dawson Place, at workplaces like fire departments and schools, at meeting places like restaurants, libraries, and churches, and even in people’s homes.
For schools, you can request a minimum 3-hour training so your staff gets clock hours.

Length: 1 hour

Incredible Years Parent Training Program
Length: One 2hr session a week, for 10 weeks
Cost: FREE
Location: Online! Classes are held virtually. Don’t have internet in your house or access to a tablet/computer? Just let us know and we can help with that!
Why attend: This FREE program will help you strengthen your parenting skills, promote positive behaviors, reduce inappropriate behaviors, and support your child’s education. For 16 weeks join our professionals as they guide you through hands-on training including group discussion, problem solving, and practice exercises.
Who it’s for: Parents and caretakers. See specific class sessions under upcoming events for specific age ranges offered.

Protecting Your Children: Advice from Child Molesters
Length: 2 hour workshop
Cost: FREE
Location: In person availability. The date can be flexible upon request, although some are prearranged and open to public.
Why attend: Research shows that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys experience sexual abuse before turning 18. Offenders often deceive adults and silence victims. Professionals, community members, parents, and more deserve to learn the signs of abuse. This workshop helps understand the offender’s behaviors.
