Every April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Join Dawson Place in raising awareness and learning how you can be part of the change to end child abuse.
This April you will see the launch of our #Use Your Voice campaign to give a voice to child abuse victims. You can end child abuse by speaking out for victims, helping to give victims a voice, and educating yourself and your community about child abuse prevention.

Take a Prevention Workshop
We offer Darkness to Light training, to help you and your fellow community members learn the signs of child abuse and how to prevent it. Gather some friends and sign up for a 2-3hr training, so you can be part of the change.
Fast Track Informational Meeting
You, your organization, or group of community members can join us for a 20min conversation on how you can help child abuse victims and prevent abuse. Learn how we impact your community by transforming the hurt of child abuse to hope and healing.
Start the Conversation
You can help start the conversation on child abuse prevention and awareness. It is up to all of us to be part of the change. Start a conversation with your workplace, family, and friends.
Here are some conversation starters:
Talk about touching, consent, and boundaries – it’s NOT okay for anyone to touch kid’s private parts (unless it’s a doctor or a parent changing a diaper).
Create Safety Practices – no isolated, 1-on-1 situations between adults and children, use a public space.
Know the Signs – these could look like changes in moods and behaviors, unexplained injuries, or absence.
Watch for behaviors of adults and teens because abuse usually happens by someone the child knows.
Teach the correct names for human body parts, including private parts.
Speak Up – use your voice to tell a trusted adult and make a report to CPS or law enforcement.
